The TASA/TASB Convention changes its venue most years, with the 2018 event taking place in Austin—a great destination with a lot of opportunities for individuals and families traveling together!

Austin, the “Live Music Capital of the World,” is America's fastest growing city filled with vibrant entertainment and culture, inspiring cuisine, and stunning outdoor settings.

Venues and entertainment

With more than 150 live music venues, Austin has world-class entertainment. Check out a concert at Stubb’s BBQ or a comedy show at Esters Follies on Sixth Street.

Head to Rainey Street where you’ll find renovated houses turned into bungalow bars for a relaxed sip and a bite.

Kick it on the eastside where old meets new and fresh eateries such as East Side Cafe and boutiques like Take Heart are popping up daily.

Of course, you can never go wrong with a visit to Sixth Street, with its colorful and bustling array of bars, restaurants, and entertainment.


Austin’s food and restaurant scene should not be missed. Down the street from the Convention Center, you’ll find Austin’s new downtown hub for food, Fareground. This unique blend of food features six local vendors open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Dig into Texas barbecue at favorites like La Barbecue, Stiles Switch, Cooper’s, and if you are up for an early morning tailgate while you wait for lunch, head over to the famous Franklin’s BBQ.

Hula Hut on Lake Austin or The Oasis on Lake Travis provide water-front sunset dining for you and your family to enjoy.

Looking for an outdoor adventure? Austin offers an abundance of outdoor activities.

Take a stroll along the Butler Hike and Bike Trail or a dip in Barton Springs while visiting Zilker Park.

Head to South Congress for shopping and excellent restaurants. At sunset, check out the bat cruise on Lady Bird Lake to view the South Congress Bridge Bats’ aerial show.
