Student Performances

Students are the reason we are all involved in school governance and nearly 200 students played a huge role in Convention. Students from Alamo Heights ISD and Fort Elliott CISD performed in the General Sessions. See their performances below. 


The Student Innovation Challenge


Sponsored by DLR, the student innovation challenge brought the most innovative students from Alief ISD, Barbers Hill ISD, Spring Branch ISD and Willis ISD together to answer some of our society’s greatest challenges. The students presented their ideas and attendees participated in lively question and answer session.

SOTY candidates are chosen for their dedication to improving educational quality, board-superintendent relations, student achievement and commitment to public support and involvement in education. 


Honor School Board Award

The honor board's program recognizes those school boards that have demonstrated outstanding dedication and rendered ethical service to the children of Texas.


Key Communicator Award

The Key Communicator Award recognizes outstanding contributions to public education through effective communications.
