FAQ: Event Information and Guidelines
Does TASA/TASB share attendee email addresses?
No. TASA/TASB will never share attendee e-mail addresses.
I was contacted by a housing company other than Convention Housing Management (CHM). What should I do?
If you are contacted by a housing company other than CHM, please let us know.
When we secure sleeping rooms at hotels for our conferences (commonly referred to as room blocks), we research the properties to make certain that our attendees will be adequately accommodated. The room block is established to ensure that rooms meet our standards and are offered at a discounted price.
We have been informed that registrants are often contacted by fax, e-mail or most often by phone with offers for cut rate housing. The intent is to convince you that the offer is made on our behalf, or that the soliciting company is a viable alternative to going through our service provider. This is not true. Housing for the TASA/TASB Convention is handled exclusively by Convention Housing Management (CHM).
May I bring a guest or spouse?
Yes. We offer one complimentary guest badge with each paid convention registration. Guest badges are available to a spouse, significant other, or family member. If the guest is a public official of, or employed by a school district, a member of the Council of School Attorneys, or a district-level administrator or supervisor in an education service center, the guest is expected to register and pay the full registration fee.
Guest badges allow entry into the General Sessions, Distinguished Speakers, and the Exhibit Hall. Guests who wish to participate in other Convention functions are expected to register and pay the full registration fee.
Who should I contact about special needs?
If you would like to rent a motorized scooter or wheelchair at the George R. Brown Convention Center you can order online here. Alternatively you can contact Scoot Around directly at 888-441-7575 or e-mail email@example.com.
If you would like us to address another special need, let us know by September 1, 2016. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 800..580.8272, extension 6104.
Does TASA/TASB endorse certain speakers, companies, or services?
No. The Texas Association of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards endorses no speaker, exhibitor, sponsor, attendee or other participant in Convention by virtue of their participation.
What is the policy on marketing at the Convention?
Attendees are not permitted to distribute materials or to otherwise market themselves or their business in contracted Convention space unless such attendees are registered as exhibitors and limit their marketing activities to within the confines of their booth.
What is the policy on video and photography at Convention?
No taping/recording is allowed other than by TASA/TASB staff and its designees.
TASA/TASB and its designees record, photograph and/or stream various aspects of this event for archival and promotional purposes. By attending the TASA/TASB Convention, attendees, exhibitors and sponsors give TASA/TASB permission to use attendee’s voice and image in any such archival or promotional recording, photograph or streaming activity.
